Diamond Courses

Hand with DiamondsThe Gem-A Gem Diamond Diploma is run worldwide as a high-level, accredited course for those who need a fuller knowledge of diamond and its grading. Taking you from the origins of this unique material to its importance in jewellery, this course emphasizes the relevance of the crystalline nature of diamond to provide a useful, thorough look into its types and colouring. The practical importance of observation and training in the efficient handling of the ten-power loupe for use in many trade environments leads to a deep appreciation of the grading and appraisal of diamond. The course paves the way for a thorough and trade-relevant preparedness for diamond quality judgement and the ability to spot problem stones and imitations. The examination comprises one theory and one practical paper, and the practical exam can be taken separately as a Diamond Practical Certificate; the theory may be taken later in order to gain Diploma status.
