Benefits of Membership

Gem-A has recently integrated a members-only area to the website, which allows members to check and update their personal details and access to i-version, a searchable online archive for the latest articles of The Journal of Gemmology.

In addition, members may view and search recent issues of The Journal and Gems & Jewellery. All the Journal articles placed online in 2010 will also be published in 'hard copy' as a single issue and sent to all paid-up members as part of their annual subscription.

They also receive four printed issues per year of Gems & Jewellery, our more commercial publication, which regularly keeps you up-to-date with what your association is doing and provides a wide range of articles relating to the gem and jewellery industries.

Discounts

Members receive discounts on workshops, books and instruments

Meetings, Events and Tours

Members are invited to attend special events, conferences and field trips throughout the year. An expanding branch network in the UK provides local meetings and events for members within their own regions. Details on branch meetings can be found on the News & Events page.

Access MailTalk

All Gem-A members have the option to join Gem-A’s MailTalk information exchange. This is an email-based forum that will allow you to share comments and ideas with other members, ask or answer queries and receive regular news from Gem-A.

Gem Discovery Club

If you are based in London or visiting London, you can join our practical gemmology evenings at the Gem-A London headquarters. Once a month we host Specialist Evenings, where an introductory talk is followed by a hands-on practical session under the expert guidance of our speaker.

FGA and DGA Register

Current members who hold our Diploma in Gemmology or Gem Diamond Diploma may have their name, town/state and country details listed on the Gem-A website. To request to be listed on the website, email Arianna Maccaferri at membership@gem-a.com. To see the FGA and DGA register, click here

Anyone with an interest in gemstones, whether or not they are in the gem and jewellery trade, may apply for membership of the Association. No qualifications are necessary. Those who have already qualified in Gem-A's Gemmology or Gem Diamond Diploma examinations may apply for Fellowship or Diamond Membership respectively, and will be entitled to use the initials FGA or DGA after their name for the duration of their paid-up membership to The Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
