MailTalk

All Gem-A members may join the Gem-A MailTalk information exchange. This is an email-based forum that will allow you to share comments and ideas with other members, ask or answer queries, and receive regular news from Gem-A.

To join, you must be a member of Gem-A. Go to GEM-A MAILTALK at http://www.mailtalk.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=gem-a and click Join Gem-A. This will take you to a page where you can type in your name and email address, and can choose a Subscription type. If you choose the Regular subscription, you will receive MailTalk list notifcations in real time to your inbox. If you choose Digest (traditional), you will receive one email a day which includes a compilation of all the emails sent that day.The list provider will check with us to ensure you are eligible for membership when you first sign up, therefore it is important to list your full name, as they appear on our membership records. When you are done, click 'Join Gem-A' at the bottom of the page.

Once you have joined, you can send emails to the international Gem-A forum, which will be circulated automatically to all other subscribers. Emails sent by you, either through MailTalk or by replying to another subscriber's email, will be circulated to all. Please note that Gem-A MailTalk is not for advertising purposes. Gem-A reserves the right to remove offenders from the list. If you wish to circulate information of events, conferences, etc. please check with Gem-A first at information@gem-a.com.

Past emails and News will be kept in the Gem-A archive, which you can search on-line through the MailTalk website. You will need to be a registered user of Gem-A MailTalk to search the archives, and you will need to set up a password. This is easy to do and you will be asked to set one up the first time you try to access the archive.

Gem-A  will not pass on your name or email address to any third parties. However, your email address will appear on emails forwarded to other members  and will be saved in the archives. These archives are not searched by any of the usual search engines (Google, Yahoo etc).

The Gem-A MailTalk information exchange is managed by MAILTALK, a professional mailing list service run by the JISC mail team using the Listserv software supplied by L-Soft. Every attempt will be made to keep the information exchange free of viruses and spam. However, nothing is the internet is 100% secure, so we do advise that you install virus protection software and keep it up-to-date. Please also note that Gem-A has taken over the JPM (International Jewellery and Precious Metal Network) MailTalk list and the Gem-A archives include previous JPM correspondences.
